The second session of the Impact Centre’s Youth Skills Connection program is currently underway. Funded by the Government of Ontario, this program trains youth under 29 years of age on essential industry specific knowledge to prepare them for employment by the energy efficient lighting industry. The weekly sessions are delivered by Impact Centre researchers and industry specialists. In addition, the students participate in field trips to learn about lighting installation in real world scenarios as well as in manufacturing facilities. Our previous session successfully trained about 30 students with four of them immediately hired by the industry.
